Afforestation in Action: Cresco’s Due Diligence Trip to Lithuania
Afforestation, carbon credits, and an upcoming forest investment fund.
Last week, Cresco Capital Services visited Lithuania to inspect ongoing afforestation projects and conduct due diligence on potential properties for our newest and, so far, largest forest investment fund, Silva Baltica 5, which is still open for investments.
During the trip, we focused on:
– New forest investment opportunities
– Afforestation projects and CO₂ credits
– Operational strategies, with a strong focus on effective asset management, increasing the value of our portfolios
Strengthening the ties with our local forest manager ensures well-founded decisions based on both strategic and practical insights. General silvicultural methods were discussed, enhancing our collective expertise. Soil preparation was a major discussion point, as it plays a crucial role in securing the optimal establishment of new forests.
By combining fieldwork with data-driven analysis, we are thrilled to continue to make well-founded investment decisions in sustainable and productive forestry across northern Europe.
We also launched our drone, capturing aerial imagery to improve our analysis of forest stands. As an important bonus, we brought back some stunning images of the properties we manage – an effective tool for communicating with our investors.
